Yerba Mate is the dried leaf and stem of a South American rainforest holly and is the national beverage of Paraguay. The term Mate is a Guarani Indian word for gourd, referring to the hollowed out gourds once used to hold the tea.
The tea is sometimes called Paraguay tea. The Guarani People of Paraguay and Argentina have been brewing this beverage for centuries and claim that it can boost energy levels and intelligence as well as providing all the nutrients needed for a healthy life. How to use:
Add 1 teaspoon of Yerba Mate to one cup of boiling water. Allow to steep for 3 to 5 minutes or until desired strength is reached. It can also be made in a coffee press or espresso maker.
