Shilajit also known as Mumijo, Silajat, Shilajatu, Silajatu, Kanmandam, Saileya Shilaja, Moomie, Black Bitumen or Mineral Pitch in English. It a blackish-brown powder created after plants and organic material remain trapped between mountainous rocks for thousands of years. This deposit seeps out of such places during the summers and is then collected and prepared into a medicine form. It is often found in the Himalayas, Karakoram, Nepal, Girda MH., Russia, Mongolia and in the north of Chile, where it is called Andean Shilajit. One book that depicts the use of Shilajit was written in the 6th century BCE called the treatise, which means people have used shilajit well before this date.
