Sandalwood – Hydrosol

Hydrosols, also known as Floral Waters, is the water used during the steam distillation of plant material in order to obtain the essential oil. The term hydrosol is Latin for water solution. Hydrosols possess certain qualities and enchanting plant essences but are much milder making them a wonderful ingredient for pampering skin or a lighter option for an aromatic spray. Floral waters are, to a high degree, adaptable. They are an ideal safe introduction for the novice aromatherapist to appreciate the therapeutic advantages of essential oils.

Sandalwood (Santalum Picatum) Hydrosol

Sandalwood has an alluring sweet, warm, and woody aroma making it a wonderful addition to beauty and fragrance-based products. The oil produced from the wood has been highly valued for centuries. Sandalwood hydrosol makes a great skin toner and feels wonderful spritzed on the face. It has calming and relaxing qualities.

How to use: This exotic, alluring and deeply mesmerizing floral water makes a nice cologne, body perfume, or mist for setting or removing makeup. It can be sprayed on bed linens, clothing, or into the air as an invigorating freshener. Mix with Rose Water as a love potion. Spray all over your body as an aphrodisiac.

Body: Sandalwood balances both dry and oily skin, is useful in treating acne, and is useful in soothing barber’s rash (great aftershave for both men & women). Use as a toner or as a compress for skin disorders, rosacea, eczema, psoriasis and for delicate skin. When applied on the skin, its antiseptic qualities protect wounds, sores, boils, ulcers, pimples, etc. from infections. Sandalwood water is particularly beneficial to reduce inflammation. Ideal for smoothing wrinkles and nurturing mature and chapped skin.

Mind: Emotionally, it relaxes stress, soothes irritation and helps lift depression. It is a wonderfully balancing hydrosol.

Spirit: Sandalwood water is a rich, sweet scent that is an aid to your meditation practice. In Tibet, Sandalwood water is used to revive people from high states of consciousness. Sprayed in the corners of rooms it is said to protect and banish spirits, or can be used to cleanse crystals.
