Ginger (Zingiber officinalis) – Essential Oil

Native to India, China, Sri Lanka and Indonesia, Ginger has been recorded in both ancient sanskrit and Chinese texts for its medicinal properties. Ginger has been valued as a spice and medicine for thousands of years and today it is still traded as a valued commodity around the world.

Used in aromatherapy applications in a diffuser, ginger oil is known for it’s stimulating and warming effects, which can enhance concentration while soothing and reducing the feelings of stress, sadness, anxiety, lethargy, agitation, dizziness, and fatigue.

Used medicinally, Ginger Essential Oil can be helpful in boosting digestion, easing discomfort of the stomach and bowel, enhancing appetite, clearing the respiratory tract, soothing aches, and reducing inflammation.

Ginger Essential Oil can be useful in blends and formulations intended to help improve circulation. It’s a frequent addition to blends for massage, arthritis and muscle aches and pains. When used topically at low dilutions or in a diffuser, Ginger Oil can help to ease nausea and motion sickness. The warming, stimulating and tonifying properties of ginger oil help improve poor circulation, warm cold hands and feet, as well as easing muscle strains, backache, arthritis and rheumatism. 

Blends well with: Black Pepper, Marjoram and Rosemary  for use in a massage.

How to use:

• Add 2 drops in a diffuser together with Tea Tree, Sage and Eucalyptus for easing stress, balancing hormones and alleviating symptoms of allergies.
• To aid in alleviating an upset stomach, blend and diffuse 3 drops Ginger Essential Oil, 3 drops Grapefruit Essential Oil, and 2 drops Peppermint Essential Oil.
